Seasonal

Enjoy The Warm Weather With My Top 5 Local Outdoor Dining Picks

Melissa Walter

The sun is shining, the temperatures are warming up, and it’s the perfect time to organize your weekend plans with friends, fun date nights, or weekday dinners out so that you can take advantage of the season.

As a native of the suburbs surrounding Philadelphia, one thing that I love every year are the truly remarkable dining experiences just miles away. So, whether you’re looking to explore Bucks, Chester, or Montgomery County, I have a fantastic recommendation for you. Keep reading for five restaurants and breweries that I am planning to enjoy this Spring and Summer.

Jasper's Backyard

First on my list is Jasper's Backyard where you will truly feel like part of the family and experience delicious homemade dishes while doing so. Located right in Conshohocken, PA, this local favorite has much more than meets the eye. With a spacious patio setup and an indoor/outdoor feel as a result of large windows lining the main dining room, Jasper’s has the perfect ambiance. If you’re planning to visit for lunch or dinner this Summer, you can expect a curated menu filled with age-old favorites like traditional hot wings or the Backyard Burger, and one-of-a-kind items like the Conshy Cobb Salad or the Brisket Cheesesteak. Looking for a great new brunch spot? Stop by Jasper’s for Big Brunch Sunday and sample their fluffy blueberry pancakes with Vermont maple syrup.

Sly Fox Brewing Company

If a craft beer in a fun laid-back environment is more your speed, then Sly Fox Brewing Company needs to be added to your outdoor dining rotation, more specifically their Phoenixville Brewhouse and Eatery location. Start off with their assortment of craft-made brews, ranging from German Wheat Beers to Hazy IPAs and even a German-style Doppelbock that is sure to wow any beer enthusiast. They also just tapped their Alex’s Raspberry Lemonade Ale, a seasonal menu item that they’ve continued to bring back over the years in various flavors. This is made in partnership with the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation whose mission is to find cures for childhood cancers. Don’t be fooled though, beer isn’t the only thing this local favorite does well. Their food menu is also sure to impress with options like the Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus and Arugula Salad or the Grilled Beer Braised Bratwurst Sandwich.

Black Bass Hotel

Shifting towards the romantic date night vibe is Black Bass Hotel, which boasts gorgeous, unobstructed views of the Delaware River. Owned and operated by The Thompson Family, who first purchased the well-known hotel and restaurant back in 2008 with dreams of bringing it back to its original charm. Much like their tranquil, relaxing suites, the restaurant conveys the same wonderful feelings. With eight different rotating menus, you truly have your pick when it comes to your dining experience. If trying their Sunday Lunch Menu then you may have the chance to sample the Baked Brie en Croûte with grapes and salted caramel or if the Tavern Menu is more your speed, then the Bass’s Cheeseburger on a Pretzel Bun could be the perfect entree for you to enjoy. No matter the time of day you decide to dine, you can always guarantee that the views from their patio will be priceless.

Levante Brewing Company

Clients and friends who have read my blog in the past know that Levante Stables has a special place in my heart thanks to their fun atmosphere and iconic outdoor fire pits. Did you know that they also have a taproom in West Chester? With a rotating calendar of events and food trucks Tuesdays through Sundays, Levante Taproom should absolutely be added to your outdoor dining bucket list. Their extensive beer list includes everything from coffee stouts and American IPAs to a truly amazing dry cider called the Honeyfire Hard Cider, which is on the top of my list to sample. In terms of food truck vendors, over the next few weeks, they are hosting Turk’s Head Sauce, Albie’s Seafood, and Natalie’s Fine Foods. To stay up to date on events, they have a calendar linked here that you can subscribe to.

Stella New Hope

Last but not least on my list is Stella located in New Hope, PA boasting more iconic waterfront views and an amazing menu. If you’ve visited the New Hope area before then you’ve absolutely driven past Stella’s gorgeous red barn-like exterior with a spacious covered patio for al fresco dining. Open Wednesday-Friday for dinner and lite bites during happy hour, you are sure to find something you love on Stella’s regular menu. Moreover, on the weekends they serve an even more exquisite brunch and their unique cocktail menu truly keeps patrons coming back. If you’re interested in trying something new then their signature Manhattan Project including cabernet, bourbon, sugar, orange & cherry may be your next favorite drink.

Hopefully, you’ve taken a moment to dive deeply into each of these great local restaurants’ menus. If one of these scenic areas seems like it could be your picture-perfect town to buy a home in, connect with me to learn more about making those dreams a reality.
