Flourtown

Flourtown is adjacent to the neighborhoods of Erdenheim, Oreland, Whitemarsh, and Chestnut Hill.

Welcome to Flourtown

Highly desirable tight-knit community with a suburban feel.

Flourtown is adjacent to the neighborhoods of Erdenheim, Oreland, Whitemarsh, and Chestnut Hill. Founded in 1743, the community was so named on account of a flouring mill near the original town site. Historical accounts mention regional farmers had previously come to the area to buy supplies and have their wheat ground by the millers along the Wissahickon.

What to Expect

The primary commercial areas are located along Bethlehem Pike in Erdenheim and Flourtown, and smaller industrial pockets in Oreland and Wyndmoor. The Flourtown farmers market is a must-visit in this town.

The Lifestyle

Casual living, desirable schools, and a tight-knit community. Many longtime residents upsize and downsize within the community. There are many desirable outdoor spaces including Wissahickon Valley Park, Fort Washington State Park, and the Morris Arboretum.

The Market

A single-family fixer-upper home starts at about $245k while a 9700 square foot colonial-style home on 3 acres will cost about $2.8 million. The median home value is about $345k. The majority of the community is developed with single-family detached dwellings constructed during the 1940's, 50's and 60’s. Home styles include colonial, ranch, and cape cod.
